Topic: Kashmir Region


The Kashmir Region is a region bordered by India, China, and PakIstan and home to about 12.5 million Kashmiri people. The region is partially home to the Himalayas, but the valley below is very fertile. Many people farm in Kashmir, who many people also work in the Kashmir wool industry.

Since Kashmir is between India and Pakistan, they both claim it as there own. Kashmir has been divide since 1947, India controls half, Pakistan theother half. Kashmir is also divided by religion, the part Pakistan controls is made up of muslums, and the Indian part of Hindus. For years, the have been threats of the first nuclear war.

Kashmir is significant because of this ongoing war between Pakistan and India over Kashmir. The on going bloody battle has claimed from 40,000 to 80,0000 lives. The Kashmir People do not live an easy life while India and pakistan fight over them, In the Indian region ther are guards on ever corner, with the highest civillian to gaurd ratio in the world.

The Kashmir region is an Indian Subcontinent, that was founded by Ashoka. The souther border of The Kahmir region is India, the eastern border of The Kashmir region is China, and teh western border of The Kashmir region is Pakistan. Kashmir is not an independent country, the 85,000 square miles are divided by India, China, and pakistan. 39,127 square miles of the region are owned by India. 33,145 square miles of the region are owned by Pakistan. And 14,500 square miles of the Kashmir region are owned by China. This region is home to part of the Himalalayas. The Himalayas create beautiful mountian views and some people refer to the Kahmir region as "The Swizerland of the East."
