Mother Teresa was a Carmelite Nun. Her name at birth was Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu. Then later, changed her name to Teresa after St. Teresa of Liseux. Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, Yugoslavia. She won many awards for her help in India after she became an Indian citizen. In 1971 she won the 1st Pope John XXIII (the 23rd) Prize. In 1979, Mother Teresa won the Nobel Peace Prize. Conservatives in churches sometimes use her as a symbol of traditional religious values that they think their church is lacking. In 1952, she founded The Kalighat Home for the Dying. Her and many other nuns gathered "the dying" off the streets and cared for them before they passed on. Mother Teresa also founded The Town of Peace where she helped victims with Leperosy. For her great help the Indians awarded her with the Padmashree" Magnificent Lotus Award". All the money she earned, she gave to charity. Mother Teresa was a great leader who is still refered to today as a world wide symbol of charity.

Mother Teresa was a catholic For over 45 years, Mother Teresa ministered to the poor, sick, orphaned, and dying, while guiding a religious order of nuns called the Missionaries of Charity's expansion, first throughout India and then in other countries.Mother Teresa was a catholic and dedicated her life to missionaries she went to 610 missionaries in 123 different countries, she was a verry humble person. In a poll for the most widly admired men and women she was in the top ten. Mother Teresa started to have heart problems, in 1983, 1989, and 1991 she had heart attacks. In April 1996, Mother Teresa had fallen and broke her collar bone. Also in August she suffered from the disease, malaria. She also had failure of the left heart ventricle, because of her heart problems she got heart surgery but it was clear that her health was declining at a fast rate. She soon died in 1997, Mother Tereasa was a great person and sure had a great life she will always be remembered for the love and care that she had given to those in need.
